Google Advertising Tools covers using Google AdSense to generate revenue by placing ads on your website together with how to use Google Adwords in order to advertise your site or product on Google.

The Google Advertising Tools book is more than just a Google user guide though as it contains some very interesting initial chapters including a chapter on how to make money from adult websites. This chapter does not tell you how put together a successful adult website but it does point you in the right direction and tell you where to look in order to start to earn revenue from an adult orientated site.

Google Advertising Tools starts by instructing you how to drive traffic to your website which includes publishing press releases, using email, syndication feeds and submitting your website url to search engines etc. Google Advertising Tools also tells you about how to optimise your site for good search engine placement, making money from affiliate programs and the basics of CPC (cost per click) advertising.

The next sections on AdSense and AdWords are fairly straight forward and simple and really just give you a basic overview of how to set up both of Google’s products and use them. There are no indepth help or secrets provided here, but the sections do cover everything a beginner would need to know about using AdWords and AdSense.

The final section of Google Advertising Tools is very interesting as it covers the programming and interaction with the Google API. The API (Application Program Interface) allows you to programmatically set up, create and amend your AdWords account. All examples are written in PHP which use the WSDL protocol and NuSOAP to talk to the Google API.

The two chapters on the Google API give you a good overview of the interface and the book provides some really good examples of how to manipulate the Google API, such as displaying AdGroup information, adding keywords to a campaign and creating a campaign.

Overall, Google Advertising Tools is a very good book especially if you want to learn about the Google API, or you are a beginner who wants to learn how to make money from your website, as the beginning chapters are not just about Google. Google Advertising Tools is also a good book if you want to learn the basics of how to use Google AdWords and Google AdSense.
