Professional Oracle Programming is for Oracle developers and DBAs, it delves a bit further into Oracle programming than your normal Oracle books that are only for beginners, this book introduces more in depth concepts including distributed queries and transactions, an introduction to java database programming, regular expressions, Oracle XML DB, HTML-DB and some Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse areas such as Data Loading and Management, High Speed Data Movement, BI Queries and BI Analysis.

There are introductory areas for Oracle beginners including chapters on how to install Oracle together with a chapter on database design basics and an introduction to SQL and PL/SQL. So really something for everyone.

There are a number of screenshots included in the book, mostly of the code to run and the results of running the code, most of these examples are run using iSQL*Plus, the new version on SQL Plus which is run in a browser, TOAD and Oracle Enterprise Manager, as well as HTML-DB.

Overall a good book for an introduction to Oracle, but especially good if you are interested in the areas of Business Intelligence, HTML-DB, XML DB and Regular Expressions.
