Pharmacy Text R/vGreat resource for any pre-reg or undergraduate student. Also useful for newly qualified community pharmacists and ESPECIALLY useful for locums.
Be CarefulWhile I ordered the 6th Edition of this item some weeks ago I received this 4th edition instead. When I ordered it the picture clearly showed that I was ordering the 6th edition. Not good enough amazon. As usual the distributor is blaming the seller and frankly I don't have time to be going back and fourth with e-mails. When I went to put in my feedback there was a problem with the feedback page! Money down the drain! Very disappointing!
Great book for Pre RegThis is an essential book for your Pre Reg training year. It compliments on the job learning perfectly. It covers all minor ailments and has dedicated chapters to each with symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options with explanations of advantages and disadvantages of each treatment, referral advice and practical advice too. Unlike Minor Ailments Major Disease, the info contained in this book is much more ordered and if you need to find something specific its just a case of checking the index or contents and skipping to the bit you need. However, as another reviewer pointed out it does lack any diagrams and pictures, as well as colour!
An excellent guide for trainee pharmacists. This book is an excellent guide for either trainee or newly qualified pharmacists. It covers most ailments which may be encountered on a daily basis in the community pharmacy and describes features of more serious underlying disease to aid diagnosis or referal. It is well presented and clearly laid out with seperate chapters for each ailment. At the end of each chapter are example case studies giving in summary both the view of a pharmacist and medical doctor for each condition. My only critisism is that there are no illustrations or diagrams which I feel would have been helpful when describing clinical features of some conditions. Nonetheless there are clear descriptions of each ailment, highlighting symptoms, possible causes and most appropriate treatments. Impotantly it gives clear guidelines on when to refer presenting ailments to a doctor. It is comparable in style to the title Minor Illness or Major Disease, however this title is illustrated with photographs of illness to aid recognition. A useful guide for all student pharmacists, preregistration pharmacists and possibly newly qualified pharmacists.
