Urban photographyI know National Geographic mainly for the stunning Nature photography. I have also seen some brilliant photography and articles about tribes or more urban areas and high tech themes. So I had expected to find some of these brilliant photos in this booklet. This was not the case.
The booklet (it is small) contains mainly photos from urban areas, cities, daily life of people. Mainly the daily life I would say. Some images are clearly brilliant and outstanding but for most of them I had the impression some people had been given a camera and asked to make just a few photos during their day. It seems like a collection of very average images. This is clearly a matter of taste. It is not to my liking.
The print quality is high and good paper was used. The best images are shown in the "look inside". The more chaotic ones are the more common ones in this book. If you like them then this is your booklet.
FAB PICTURESTHIS IS A REAL FIND. FABULOUS PHOTOS IN HARDBACK BOOK, GOOD VALUE AND YOU JUST WANT TO KEEP LOOKING AT THEM.
Not GreatestI remember being quite disappointed with this book when I first bought it many years ago. I picked it up again recently to see if my opinion had changed. It had, but unfortunately not for the better. The photographs seemed even weaker and less inspiring than they did the first time around. It's a shame, because I really wanted it to be so much more.
My copy will be going to the local charity shop in the not too distant future. It's simply taking up way too much room on the bookshelf.
good giftI bought this book as a Christmas gift and wanted to keep it for myself! A lovely selection of photos and in a good compact size.
Pity about the quality of bindingLovely pictures, lots of inspiration, however, the book's binding is... poor quality. Expect your book to break about after a few years. Sewn binding, good, but the quality of that sewn binding, less than stellar.
Still, the photographs are lovely.
