Pharmacist's opinion!Excellent book - great photographs and tables - easy to read. Useful pharmacy reference book.
Really helpful bookHelpful for a lot of the different conditions in community pharmacy. Good book to refer to for pre-reg students needing clinical info.
best pharmacy bookThe 3 main pharmacy books are 'symptoms in the pharmacy' 'major illness or minor disease' and this book. Overall this is the best of the 3. Has excellent flow diagrams to help direct your descision when a patient presents with symptoms. The only down side is its slightly out of date e.g. chloramphenicol eye drops are now 1st line for eye infections not broline eye drops. But this can easily be updated with the Pharmaceutical Journal website, scroll down to 'conjunctivitis and chloramphenicol' article.
Also you need to be aware that the author many times says 'the manufacturer says avoid in pregnancy' but then goes on to say 'its still o.k. to sell to the patient.
If you can only afford one book get this. If you can afford two get 'symptoms in the pharmacy' which has no pictures but excellent text.
an excellent bookThis book is a brilliant aid for the pre reg exam with questions at the end of the chapter, to test your knowledge. It is aimed at pharmacists. It is concise and has all the relevant information boxed up in sections. This book would also be useful for newly qualified pharmacists working in the community. Definately worth buying.
Excellent for community pharmacy pre-registrationVery helpful book for pharmacy undergraduates and pre registration trainees. Flow charts provide easy steps for diagnosis and referral. Dermatology section with pictures is very useful too.
